Principles
of Thought
1. America is Good.
…because
“we the people” are good. I truly believe that this country is “of the people, by the
people, for the people” and that we as a country have changed the course of world history for the better. I have traveled
the world and I have seen the good that has come from our efforts in war and humanitarian assistance. I
dismiss the cat calls from the bleachers for the times when our efforts were not immediately successful in appearances, as
those seeds we planted did bear fruit in Vietnam, South Korea, Japan, Germany, Taiwan, Russia, Poland, etc., etc., and in
the hearts of the many who desire to be free.
2. I believe in God. He is the center
of my life.
My savior is the Lord Jesus Christ and I worship the triune God (God the Father, God the Son, & God the Holy
Spirit). He has been with me my whole life. I respect others’ religions who worship
God. I accept that God works in weird and mysterious ways and that He may come to my fellow man in different
ways as per the culture He has given them. It is not my role to judge my fellow man in that regard. I will
share my belief in God with others, especially if they do not have God in their life; however, I respect the constitutional
rights of my fellow Americans to worship God in the fashion they believe is right for them.
3. I must always try to be a more honest person than I
was yesterday.
I am an honest man by upbringing, character, and profession; however, I am not perfect. I pray
every day for the forgiveness of sins for my short comings as a man. I ask for the courage to always do
the right things and to speak and do my tasks in life with honesty and courage. I accept and ask for forgiveness
for those times I fall short.
4. The family
is sacred. My spouse and I are the ultimate authority, not the government.
I believe this for my family
and for the families of my fellow Americans. This IS the American way and should be protected and defended
from the encroachment that has occurred in our country. The government is supposed to be the servant of
the people and always subservient to the needs of the populace. History has shown that when governments
take that power from families (Nazis, Khmer Rouge, Imperial Japan, Communism, etc.) the result is an evil abomination that
ruins the country and mankind.
5. If
you break the law you pay the penalty. Justice is blind and no one is above it.
My father and I both lived
our lives upholding this sentiment to be the truth of our lives as public law enforcement servants of the people.
Society and victims should not be blamed for the crimes that are committed against them. I believe
in lengthier jail time for child molesters, and other violent criminals, as studies have shown that the recidivism rate for
these type of crimes are high and those who commit these crimes often incorrigible. Our government has an obligation
to protect citizens against these crime (domestic enemies) just as much as it does against foreign enemies.
6. I have a right to life, liberty and
the pursuit of happiness, but there is no guarantee of equal results.
The United States is the embodiment
of these beliefs! For those who think otherwise, I challenge them to live elsewhere in the world.
In the USA, ANYONE can make it if they truly try and make the sacrifices for that success of hard work.
I am against affirmative action in our country except in the cases of handicapped individuals.
7. I work hard for what I have and I will
share it with who I want to. Government cannot force me to be charitable.
I agree 100% with the first
part and live that in my life. A class of people has evolved that vote for politicians who will feed the
desire for more and more social programs to take the place of people providing for themselves through employment opportunities
vice the care of the “state.” This needs to change.
8. It is not -un American for me to disagree with authority or to share
my personal opinion.
I truly believe our country is better off when Americans are involved in
our country both pro or con on an issue. I disagree with anyone who dismisses those who disagree with them
because they do not share the same views. If elected, I will cherish the input from voters and respect
their views even if they are not the same as my own for it is important for a leader to always re-evaluate their understanding
of issues they are obligated to deal with and to be reminded who they work for. Americans must be given
the respect they deserve by their elected officials and the opportunity to speak their minds.
9. The government works for the people. The people
do not answer to the government; the government answers to the people.
This is the way our government
is SUPPOSED to be; however, there has been an eroding of these principles from years of abuse. It is time
that we put these beliefs back into effect by electing people who will infuse these beliefs and principles back into the government
by representing the actual voters and not the special interest groups. We need to elect leaders who view
their election to office as an obligation of service to the people as a sacred duty and not politicians seeking office for
aggrandizement.
