Tourism is South Dakota's 2nd largest industry and an integral part of our state's economy.  Our tourism industry has seen great gains in recent years and exceeds national trends.  Building on that success can benefit every South Dakotan.

Tourism is an area that we must continue to develop and promote.  The key is getting local communities, and South Dakotans across the state, involved in developing and promoting attractions and events across the state. 

There is a worldwide interest in our Native American history and culture.  Supporting and promoting that interest helps preserve parts of our great South Dakota heritage, benefits all South Dakotans from added tourism traffic, and I believe is one of the areas that is under developed.
